New York New York!!

So, it is January 16th. 945pm. My husband just dropped me off at the Salt Lake City airport - not happily (for him anyway) and I am checking in for the Midnight flight to NYC!! I have never been there before, and this is just a stop for us as we head on out to Edinburgh, Scotland!!

Here is Lynda and Angela - my workmates!! They were flying with us to New York on their way to Cairo!! How sweet is that... :)

And here is our Scotland Crew - Oooip Oooip!! Me, Arron, Debbie, Nahe and Shay! SLC FTO D concourse baby!! We are just missing Lisa, who is heading straight to Scotland the next day...

Here is me and Nahe upon our arrival at the airport!!

Funny story... you have to take the Airlink train from the airport to like the train terminal place - informative, I know..lol. Then, you have to pay $5 to get out of the turnstiles. We bought all day subway passes for, uhhhh, I wanna say $10 a person. That was actually a good deal! You walk out and then you see this sign.....

We get on a train that we thought was the subway...and the first clue that something was wrong was that it was really nice. Arron is sitting a ways up from the rest of us - and I see him giving the train attendant some money. I, innocently, assume that he is making change...lol!! Until the attendant gets to the rest of us. I show him my subway pass, and says "those dont work, you are on the Long Island Rail Road". uhhhhhhhhhhh. So, thats another $12 per person for a 20 minute ride from the Airport to Penn Station. Nice.
Well, a pretty sweet bonus from getting on the wrong train was that this GORGEOUS guy comes and sits right in the middle of our group. Im not kidding you, he looked just like Jake Gyllenhall. And he was reading!! I love guys who read!! My husband does, but not books - mostly muscle magazines. :)
Anywhoo, we get to Penn Station and alas, cute guy gets lost in the crowd. It was crazy!!! There is just people everywhere and its like they are all late for something! Shay was wearing her boots, and this lady yelled at her to pick up her feet!! Eesh!
We find the train we need and take it out to Ground Zero. Again, people are yelling at us to walk faster...how nice. :P OMG!! I forgot to tell you about the temperature. It was close to end of the world freezing!!! We ate at this little cafe Shay went to on her last trip which was just kitty corner to the World Trade Center. It was soooo small and super busy!! Me and Nahe ordered grilled cheese and ham sandwhiches which made the guy yelled "I need 2 jack hams, 2 JACK HAMS!!" I think he saw how scared I was cause he was super nice to me... lol! So a "jack ham" and a hot cocoa later, we head out to the WTC for a lil' photo op!!
We just pretty much hopped on and off the subway all day... Heres a picture in honor of my cousin - the one and only, Billy Martin. :)
We stopped in a Toys-'R-Us and it was three stories high, with a ferris wheel in it!!! What the.....

And they had this way cool colored wall next to escalators...

Here we are in Times Square!!! Shay, Nahe, Arron and Debs....

And Me, Nahe, Arron and Debs!

We also had a quick "warm up before we we freeze to death" stop at the M&M store!!

Cute!
Of course we had to see the Empire State Building, which I kept calling the Eiffel Tower for some reason!!
So, after about 11 hours in the City, we head back to the airport so we can catch our 10pm-ish flight to Edinburgh. We stop at Applebees in the FTO for a quick bite to eat and we are on our way!!

I have to say that it was a very interesting and fun trip. I didnt turn into a popsicle, so it was okay!! I definitely have to go back when its warmer though...loL!
Thank you NEW YORK CITY!!!

Just your average photo sharing site?? (Not)

Shutterfly anyone?? I've recently signed up to get my own page on their site. It looks simple enough, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to add photo albums seperately. Every time I add multiple albums, they all converge into one!

*frustrated scream*

Any ideas??

New Kids On The Block Update!!

Wow, so today is January 1st 2009. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Looks like ive got some updatinng to do. On November 15th, 2008, I was restless. I couldn't concentrate, didn't want to do any housework. Nada. Why? Because I was going to the New Kids concert that night!! WOOOO!!

Nahe, Maritza, Angie and I went to dinner at Olive Garden then headed on over to the E Center. We got there about 6pm, parked by the huge sign and went to stand in line. The concert didn't start untill 8, but I insisted we get there early... lol. So we are out there just kind of talking and freezing to death and I was telling the girls "wouldnt it be so cool if they would walk up to the windows and say hi??" Not even 5 minutes later, we see Jordan Knight walking past and waving down to all of us!!! YAY!!!

Then, there are a bunch of ladies screaming around a corner. After a split second of deliberation, Maritza takes off running to check it out. More screaming. I cant take it anymore - im off and running... I get to the door and see the tip-top of Donnie Whalbergs head. He goes back inside and I turn to see Nahe standing next to me. Maritza was close (and tall) enough to get a picture of him with her cell phone. We laugh about how completely high school we just acted by running over there. Thanks to Angie for saving our spot in line!!!

The doors finally open and we head on in. The door people scan out tickets, then direct us to another check in table. Our tickets are scanned a second time, and they tell us they are moving us from row 38 to row 14. WHAT?? No way. Oh, yes way!!! The night has gotten off to a most fabulous start, I must say. We head on in to our seats and start texting some number to get our name on the jumbo screen to try to win backstage and/or front row passes. It doesnt work, however it did succeed in alerting numerous people throughout the audience that we were there since they saw our names... lol!!!

The opening acts were Lady Gaga ....... (sorry, not the best pic....)

and Natasha Bedingfield.....they were soo freaking good!!!

Next up New Kids On The Block...... oh yeah!!!! Enjoy the pictures - I sure do!!!

Duffy?? LOVE HER!!!!

So on the radio I keep hearing this song called "Mercy", and I love it. So I tell my good friend Heath, who is at the fore front of new and amazing music. He goes to her website and then emails me that he doesnt like it.

Im bummed. Here I thought I could introduce him to a new song for once..... (Okay, make that again - cause I did tell him about Jason Mrazs' song "I'm Yours"....yay me!!)

Then he tells me that he does like the song "Warwick Avenue" on her site. So I go there and listen to it and lo and behold....I love it. That guy never steers me wrong. Damn him.

So the score stands somewhere at - Capu 1, Heath 50. Do I get half a point for telling him about "Mercy" which then led him to "Warwick Avenue"??

You can watch the video at: iamduffy.com

Enjoy!!

..... I'll be loving you FOREVER .....

Okay, so 2 days ago, I was as giddy as my 9 year old watching a Jonas Brothers video! Why?? Cause I bought my New Kids On The Block tickets!! Holy Freak - my junior high school crush on Joey McIntyre has totally NOT gone away. 2 concerts back in the day apparently wasn't enough for me. This time I get to hang out and enjoy it as an adult, and I have to admit im just as excited about this concert as I was when I was 13....

I cant get enough of their new song Summertime, and I love the video even though its hooch city... :) Watch it here..... http://www.msplinks.com/MDFodHRwOi8vd3d3LnZoMS5jb20vdmlkZW8vcGxheS5qaHRtbD9pZD0xNTg4NjQyJnZpZD0yMzg2Nzc=

*^#*@(@&$&^$(#(@)*!*!*#*#@

Am I doing something horribly wrong??? When I complete a blog (which is big for me seeing as how they are becoming few and far between...) and I post it, where the hell-ohs does it go??? I posted on last night and it still hasnt shown up.....

Grrrrrrr!!!

For the love of Family!!

Well, my neice has finally graduated from Roosevelt High School in Honolulu, Hawaii. I was lucky enough to attend the ceremony, but getting there seemed to be the hard part!

I flew from Utah to Maui, which was a 6 1/2 hour flight. Then I had a 4 hour layover till my next flight departed. Thank goodness for my laptop and Harry Potter and the OOTP!! My plane comes in to the gate in Maui so I stand in line for boarding. I look up and notice a girl staring at me like she knows me while im staring at her like I know her!! Turns out I do!! She is Corinna my cousins girlfriend. Small world right??

Well, I forgot to mention that my flight from Maui had a 25 minute layover on Molokai, my home island. I should have called my family to come to the airport and waive at me from the fence since we werent allowed to get off the plane. Finally, 2 planes, 3 islands and about 12 hours later I land on Oahu!! Yippee!!
